About Our Region

 

Our region is part of Sweet Adelines International, a worldwide organization of women singers committed to advancing the musical art form of barbershop harmony through education and performance. Learn more at the Sweet Adelines official website.

 

Our region covers British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Northwest Territories, Yukon Territory and Nunavut. We have over 1000 members, 24+ chartered choruses and quartets. Click here to see a regional map and find a chorus near you.

 

Mission Statement

Region 26 Sweet Adelines are dedicated to the continued pursuit of musical excellence encompassing opportunities for personal growth, recognition, and the joy of singing harmony in the barbershop style.

 

CompetitionIn the spring of every year, our region holds a competition. Competitions are a special time for quartets and choruses from our region to perform and get constructive feedback from a panel of judges. The winners of the regional competition in both quartet and chorus categories get to travel to International Competition, which is held in the fall in a selected city each year. In 2009, the International Competition was held in Nashville. The 2010 competition will be held in Seattle.

 

Quartets

Most choruses have a number of members who form their own quartets. Our Region currently is home to a number of wonderful quartets, and we are very proud of them! Click here to see our quartet section to learn more about them.
